"Attending the FIR course was like going to a 'spa for the brain,' where we could really massage new ideas out of old ideas, 'pick the brains' of established scientists--young and old, network and make new friends for potential future collaboration, get exposed to new scientific techniques that we can take back to our own institutions to build upon, get inspired to take a chance and take on innovative ideas, and really focus on improving ourselves.... The warm and intellectually stimulating environment was 'soup for the scientific soul' and quite rejuvenating"

~ Men-Jean Lee, M.D. (2001 FIRbee)
