13th Annual Symposium
Thursday, June 10 - Saturday, June 12, 2010
Woods Hole, Massachusetts
Abstract Deadline: April 16, 2010
Notification of accepted abstracts: May 3, 2010
Now accepting abstracts from FIR alumni and TA’s from all classes!
You are invited to rediscover Woods Hole this June for our annual reunion symposium weekend at the MBL. The symposium is a reunion meeting for all classes and teaching assistants—please plan to join us! We are proud to claim among our ranks more than 200 leading young researchers and practitioners from around the globe. Our symposium provides you world-class networking opportunities with former classmates, FIR faculty members, distinguished guest investigators, and with “FIRbees” from twelve other classes.
Highlights: We will be recognizing 2010 Beacon Awardees Patricia Hunt of Washington State University and Rolly Simpson of Burroughs Wellcome Fund at this year’s symposium. Dr. Hunt will deliver the Beacon Lecture on Friday, June 11. The recipient of the 2010 Pioneer Award and 2010 Mike McClure Lecturer is Dr. David Page of the Whitehead Institute.
Travel reimbursements and free lodging for FIRbees: Returning FIR alumni & TA’s will be provided complementary lodging at a local hotel, and are also eligible for reimbursement of travel expenses. We typically reimburse full travel costs for those accepted as presenters, and funding priority is provided to those selected to make presentations. Preference is given to those presenting outstanding science, those presenting new topics, to first time presenters, and those who have not attended recent symposiums. These decisions are made based on a review of submitted abstracts. Please see the Travel Reimbursement section for details.
The preliminary symposium program is available and will be updated as speakers and other details are determined.
